ELECTRIC FRIEND on CDBaby

ELECTRIC FRIEND by Greg Vadimsky (c)2001, 2017 Lyrics:
She looks so eagerly to nights like this, a little one-on-one of perfect bliss
Nobody needs to know the time she spends at home enjoying her electric friend.
She draws the curtains and the lights go so low, for in the dark he'll glow
She kills the phone, pours a glass of cold Merlot, lets the good times flow
Switch the dial and assume the position, feels her tension go
Takes a trip on her own secret mission, when she needs him near, now, he won't say no.
She looks so eagerly to nights like this, a little one-on-one of perfect bliss
Nobody needs to know the time she spends at home enjoying her electric friend.
Doesn't know the way, the day they made him, it's not like it's a sin
He doesn't fight or ever need to win, and he won't wear thin
Never needs a break, just keeps on giving, brings the passion in
Almost seems like he's practically living, they get reconnected, like a missing limb.
She looks so eagerly to nights like this, a little one-on-one of perfect bliss
Nobody needs to know the time she spends at home enjoying her electric friend.
Sometimes he really gets her up and screaming, she visits places that she'll never see
You know her secret now? Not what it's seeming.
She really loves it with her warm t.v. Her warm t.v. Her large t.v. Her wide t.v.
She looks so eagerly... electric friend... electric friend... electri-lectric friend.

COLOURS OF MIND at CD Baby

Album Notes
This album was mostly recorded at Greg's home studio, but also features one song from John Foley's Hummingbird Recordings and two from Jay Barrows' Crystal Myth Productions. "Every Night Every Hour Every Day" ponders the distance between society and our elected officials, set over a Bo Diddley styled rhythm section. "The Nearing" is a brassy, bluesy song about futures that arise from previous actions. "The First Time" looks at a possibly taboo relationship, or is it simply the way that so many couples feel that it's "them against the world"? Considering one's own uniqueness as divine or maligned is at the heart of the rocking "A Different Drummer". A card game between the Devil, Jack the Ripper, Adolf Hitler, and one of the Husseins inspires "Good Intentions", as its players try to rationalize their behaviors. This moves smoothly into a cable car rumbling past a late night piano bar for "Just Like The Night", a sincerely beautiful true love song. "Harvest Moon" changes up everything, about an entity who has decided upon a plan of revenge. Old-fashioned music hall stylings decorate "This Secret Star", a playful romp about an Earthbound misfit and her dreams of returning "home". Wistful longings for a lost past are swept into a classic waltz entitled "Old Song". The looking back seems to continue, as "Schoolgirls" playfully recalls teenage fascinations during high school, but this turns into a different, and much sadder approach with the instrumental "Magic", which is bound to its melodic companion, "Yesterdays, Not Long Ago". The feeling of lost youth passes by, however, with the album ending in upbeat Beatle-inspired pop, as the song called "Valentine". Overall, this is a wide-ranging and extremely creative collection of work. Musicians on this album, aside from Greg playing nearly every type of instrument, included Flip Dahlenburg (guitars, mandolin, fiddle, vocals), Steve Hauss (bass), Kyle Tague (drums), David Mack (guitar), Tom Willett (bass), John Foley (kazoo, vocals), and Scott Jecmen (kazoo).

Studio and home demos from the years 1987 to 1991. Quite a diverse group, with a definite underlying theme fighting its way in and out.

After SPECTRE disbanded in 1984, Greg pursued his solo career, but also worked with many other different bands in various capacities. From the many demos recorded between 1986 and 2006, this album was pieced together to give an overview of his varied styles of writing and performance. The first track on the album, EDIT HERE, is actually the newest recording (2006), and was completed at home in Orlando. I REMEMBER ENGLAND, THROUGH THE RAIN, and ONCE UPON A TIME IN DECEMBER were from a series of recording session at Hummingbird Recordings, Melbourne, Florida in 1986. KANGAROO is an instrumental done at Hummingbird also, but in 1987. THE OTHER SIDE OF NOWHERE is a home demo from 1991 (this time the home was in Palm Bay, Florida). GIRL ON A TRAIN was recorded at the later incarnation of Hummingbird went it moved to Palm Bay, and is the only track to feature other musicians (Greg played and sang everything on all of the other 9 songs). The musicians were: Kyle Tague (drums), Tom Willett (bass), and Flip Dahlenburg (guitar). DRINKING IN THE MADNESS, COLD PEOPLE, and PARALLEL LINES were all from more of the 1991 Palm Bay home sessions.

Greg's first band, SPECTRE, formed in 1979 and three years later was signed to ISC Records, which had separate international distributors. In August and September of 1982, "THIS IS SPECTRE" was recorded in Orlando, with later remixes in Nashville and London. The final mix of the album was released early in 1983 with an updated cover featuring the band against a galaxy background, while the original cover used the same band shot with a simple blue background. The album was produced by Englishman JOHN ETCHELLS and engineered by DANA CORNOCK at Bee Jay Recording Studios, Orlando, Florida. The final mix was done at J.A.M. Recorders Ltd. in London. SPECTRE's lineup was three Vadimsky brothers (Greg, Glen, and Gary) plus two of Greg's high school friends, Ken Booher and Rick Gangraw. All of the band used stage names at the time (Greg Roberts, Glen Elliott, Garrett Louis, Kenneth Lee, and Rick Collins). Greg played keyboards, Glen drums, Gary lead guitar, Ken rhythm guitar, and Rick bass guitar, though there was some trading off of instrumentation on various songs. All of the band sang as well, though lead vocals on the album were shared by Greg and Ken. Also, Greg and Ken were the only songwriters on this specific release.  TRACKS:  1. Turn Out The Lights  2.
